Why
Compleat?

Why Compleat? It's not a typo. “The Compleat Angler,” first published in 1653 by Isaak Walton, was less about fishing and ultimately about reflection, contemplation, and connection. Smithsonian Magazine calls the book “a Walden-like meditation on nature and friendship,” and Henry David Thoreau himself noted that “many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” This book has since been reprinted more than any other in the English language, with the exception of The Holy Bible, Pilgrim’s Progress, and Shakespeare’s masterpieces. With this in mind, The Compleat Leader blends rich dialogue with fellowship, coaching, and fly-fishing to help create the conditions needed for a deep contemplative state.

“Leadership is a deeply
personal
journey.”

The Oxford Dictionary defines the word compleat as "possessing all the skills or qualities of a particular craft.” We embrace this spirit of compleat, and it provides the foundation for our mission of improving the world through the power of great leaders and teams. We have witnessed over and over again that to become "compleat", a leader must go deep to uncover the connection between their whole self and the impact they have on others. They also need time and access to support, guidance, and a community that is in search of something greater. This program provides the rare time and space to do this work.
